SMPlayer "Another Instance is Starting/Closing Error"

SMPlayer starting giving the following error:

"Another instance of SMPlayer Portable is closing. Please wait for it to close before launching it again."

Tried some of the suggestions posted to other programs about removing the PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-FeedNotifierPortable.ini file (could find nothing exactly that name, tried deleting several config.ini type files) but nothing worked.

Reinstalled the program, it worked for a few days of opening and closing, and the issue began again. I reinstalled again, and now I'm getting the following:

"Another instance of SMPlayer Portable is starting. Please wait for it to start before launching it again."

Any ideas what is causing this error? It can't be a corrupted file because I am deleting the SMPlayer directory before reinstalling.

Thanks in advance.

Bad Shutdown, Multiple Accounts, etc

The only time that error should show is if SMPlayerPortable.exe is already running and the file PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-SMPlayerPortable.ini exists within SMPlayerPortable\Data but smplayer.exe is not running.

That will usually only occur if something goes wrong. Specifically a bad shutdown (unplugging the drive or shutting down Windows without closing the apps and letting them fully close) or errors on the drive. The other thing that can cause it us multiple Windows accounts each running apps. The final thing is if you have smplayer.exe associated with files directly, which should not be done.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Not any of those scenarios...

John,
Thanks for your reply. The file you mentioned is not in the SMPlayer directory, and another instance of SMPlayer is not running. The first thing I did when this started happening is check task manager, which showed nothing. A reboot does not fix the problem. Therefore, there is a value stored in a file somewhere that is causing this to happen. From what I can tell, it would only be in the PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-SMPlayerPortable.ini file, but that is not present.

The bad shutdown would be a cause, but I delete the directory, reinstall the SMPlayer, and the problem persists. Multiple accounts are not running apps, and SMPlayer is not associated with any file types (I lack admin permissions on this machine).

So, lots of good things to check there, but unfortunately it is none of those items. Any other suggestions?

If one had smplayer.exe

If one had smplayer.exe associated directly with files and does not have PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-SMPlayerPortable.ini within SMPlayerPortable\Data and is getting the error - is there a solution to remove the error?
