Google Chrome Update In App!

Hey I was wondering if you could add the ability for us to update Google Chrome Portable in app. When I try to do that it comes up with error message "Update failed (error: 1)"

There is another Chromium based browser called Comodo Dragon, you have the option to install it to your PC, or install a portable version, the portable version also has the ability to update when you try to update it. It would be really cool if this could be added one day.

Nope, Don't Use That

Unlike Firefox, Chrome's updater has to be installed on the local machine and only works with local installs. Chrome is far less portable than Firefox by design as indicated on its homepage.

The best way to update your apps is to use the PortableApps.com Platform. You update all your apps at once without needing to manually launch every single one.

You should not touch the Comodo browser. It has severe security issues.

Lel.

Hey thanks for the fast reply. Yeah I don't use Comodo Dragon anymore it's outdated real bad. Another question I have is when I use PortableApps.com Platform to update Google Chrome 32bit and 64bit will it install the newer version of those browsers and keep the old information like tabs setting etc I have like Google Chrome does? I've never used this before (PortableApps.com Platform).

Oh and also is there a way to install multiple Google Chromes in the PortableApps.com Platform?

Always

PA.c Platform and PA.c Format apps always retain your data on upgrades.

Note that some Chrome settings are PC-locked and will break as you move or if any other app touches them. As such, you should be sure to login to Google whether you use the local or portable version.

You can install multiple Chromes if you want to but you need to manually install the 2nd and 3rd ones to other directories at the moment. The platform won't automatically update them. An automated way of doing all of this is coming in the future.
