How to make apps (Sticky please)

I'm thinking this should be stickied so people don't have to ask this (including me)

How do you make apps? Just finding the .exe like it says it not working

Tutorial or HOWTO

I'd love to see a full-fledged Tutorial or HOWTO on how to create a portable app, or even a walkthrough of how registry keys or INI files were identified, how the NSI file was coded to write to files using the PortableApps directory structure. I'm sure that would be very time consuming, but could save lots of time and duplicate posts in the long run.

Best way to learn NSIS is to grab one of the launcher's code. I like 7-Zip Portable the best.
