Questionable Legality

Unfortunately, the original Truecrypt license did not permit forks or use under any open source license, so VeraCrypt is of questionable legality.

Veracrypt can be installed in portable mode

Download the installer, and choose portable mode. Works like Truecrypt 7.1a

John is correct that the TC license, which VC inherits is odd, hence the legal concern. Doesn't matter to an end user, but could for a distributor.
