[Fixed] Apache OpenOffice Portable 4.1.1 Language Issues

Hi,

I have just installed Apache OO 4.1.1 on my PAF platform. The intaller's langauge was English. After the first start the progam's GUI language was set to US-English. I changed it to German. After a program restart the GUI was partially English (the first selection screen was in English), the menus were in German, the settings section was entirely in English. I reinstalled it with the same result.

My configuration:
Win 8.1 x64
system language is German
latest available PAF platform with German as the GUI's language
Apache OO 4.1.1 standard package
no previous version of Apache OO was installed

Greetings

Confirmed, Will Investgiate

I can confirm this in the portable version while the local one works properly. When run without the platform and selecting German for everything, some things still appear in English. I'll work on finding the root cause. This was likely missed in over a year of testing as most users have switched to LibreOffice Portable and there wasn't much interest in testing.

Hi John,

Hi John,

thanks for the swift reaction. My second thought was trying it without the platform. The installer let me select its language so I switched it to German. Upon first start the first selection screen was in English, the menus in German, but the settings section entirely in English again. Same situation like after setting the GUI language to German as explained above.

Fixed in 4.1.1 Repack

I've posted a repack of the 4.1.1 Standard language release. This fixes the issue which was due to some missing files. Additional details are here: https://portableapps.com/news/2015-04-16--apache-openoffice-portable-sti...

There is still an issue when installing via platform

First I deleted Apache OO 4.1.1. and then tried the repacked version. Installed it via platform. The result was exactly the same as in my first posting. Neither did the installer switched automatically to German, nor did it offer the choice to set it to German. The first pre-settings screen (where the personal data for the documents can be entered) had been in English already.

I then tried the installer without the platform. It worked just as it should. The selection window for the installer's language appeared and I could set it to German. The pre-settings screen appeared in German as well as everything else in the program's GUI.

It seems there is still a bug with the installation via platform. As a workaround one can still install without the platform and just move the program's folder to the Apps folder of the platform.

No Installer Shown, Works fine here

If you're properly installing via the platform's app store, it shouldn't show the installer at all except to briefly show the license agreement.

You must have the PA.c Platform set to German and "Use this language for all apps" selected, otherwise it will auto install in English.

Installs via the platform will never show the language selection screen. This is by design.

If you install in English, you will need to launch OpenOffice and manually change the language to German in 3 places. It will only automatically change a single location.

Both LibreOffice and OpenOffice do not support full automatic language changes with the platform due to the additional available options.

I just installed Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 via the platform's app store with German selected and use this language for all apps selected. The EULA prompt that came up was in German. I launched the app and the Welcome screen was in German, the UI in German and all 3 settings are set properly to German in Options.

The platform is set to German but...

...the setting "Use this language for all apps" was unchecked. That mus have been the problem. Thanks for the help and sorry for bothering you.

Keep up the good work!

Same issue, but i must

Same issue, but i must uncheck "Use this language for all apps" for use language ITA.
The problem is around this setting, probably.
With the selected item "Use this language for all apps" if I select the language ITA, close OO and restart as Administrator, then it works and remains selected ITA as the language for the UI but only for that session, if I close and restart back in ENG.
Only for developers, to better understand the problem
