Does installer do anything besides uncompress into a folder?

I'm curious: Does the PortableApps installer do anything besides uncompress the data into a folder?

I needed to install the PortableApps suite onto a USB key that didn't quite have enough room on it, so I did this:

1) Install to a spare empty folder on hard disk

2) Delete unneeded apps from PortableApps in that folder

3) Copy the entire folder to the USB key

I'm assuming there would be no problems with doing this.

One of the nice things about portable applications is that their folders can be copied and moved around at will like this, and the application won't break, as everything is self-contained within the folder so nothing is left behind. Apps are well-behaved and politely stick to their own folders, and don't stomp on anything else, so there's never any "DLL hell" or registry bloat. Just like the good old days of DOS! Smile

Yep

All it does is extract.
You could install it to a computer here, delete stuff and then copy it to Google's GMail Drive and it would be fine.
(BTW, Check out the link, it's funny.)
