freeCommander

I've been browsing on file managers here. Seems freeCommander comes up as a good one that many use. So I tried it. But on the PortableApps menu, I get an uninstall for freeCommander. I tried deleting the uninstall and it got it off the menu. Is it safe to actually delete the uninstall or not? Thanks!

Its safe

If you dont plan to uninstall it, I think its safe.
But I dont know about it leaving traces...

Safe and clean

No traces are left behind, freeCommander writes its settings in an .ini file on the same folder where the .exe is.
You can see it here:

BTW, it's a great file manager.

the install icon

I knew it was safe to use, but the question was about the uninstall icon that would appear on PA menu. If I deleted the uninstall function out of the program's directory, it'd delete it from the PA menu. So I was wondering on that...

delete it

yes you can safely delete unins000.exe and unins000.dat from the program's root folder.

edit:
In fact, these files appear because you've actually installed freeCommander (I guess to your stick). There's no need for it if you use UniExtract (I know there's also a portable version of UniExtract, can't remember where, which cares about its registry traces) to extract the app from the installer "fc_setup.exe" directly.

Thanks

That's what I thought. It'd be safe to delete them. Thanks again for the input!
