Unable to access https sites (like gmail.com)

Hi there - I have just installed Firefox Portable version 2.0 (in fact I am using it right now). I can surf regular sites (like news.bbc.co.uk) However if I try to access my gmail account for example Firefox wont let me! --> "Server not found -Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com."

Help!!!! I think the problem is in the settings but I cant work it out! Thanks

Unable to access https sites

Hi, I have the same problem. FF 2 on PC accesses the secure sites fine but not the FF portable 2 on USB thumb. I'm running behind a firewall and a proxy is used. Since the PC version works fine, I don't think the firewall or proxy should have anything to do with this.

Thanks.

It does

The install version may pick it up while the local one doesn't.

Also, some offices have a proxy for https but not for http... which is why the original poster can use one but not the other.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

https problem Fixed!

In Tools | Options | Advanced | Settings |

I checked the box "Use this proxy server for all protocols" as I am using manual proxy connection.

This works!

Thanks everyone
