Is there an application like VMware for portable use. I can not install programs on my work, but I need linux.
Emulators dig themselves very deep in the system.
But if you need linux, what about using a live-cd?

Moka5 is portable but it has to be installed on every comp you use. otherwise you are out of luck.
there was a thread linking to one of PA.coms user websites that contained a portable version of VirtualBox. it's not VMware but it is a virtual machine
Instead of a Live CD you may also download the Qemu-Puppy 2.13-1 package. It includes a Win32-exe which you can run IMMEDIATELY after you have downloaded and unzipped the package somewhere. There is no installation nor any fumbling with syslinux required to run this Linux on a Win32 machine...
Have a look here:
Download link can be found under 3.1.
I love portableapps, but I've been playing with Linux under vmware and wanted it portable, so I came here hoping to find a portable version. And what did I find? Sourceforge already has it! Awesome! I wish I'd known about this sooner! I can't wait to start playing with it!

And, like everything that uses QEMU, there's the licensing issue again. I'll post a removal request in their tracker. They can't host it on SF.

what's about Virtual Box ( http://www.virtualbox.org )....its open source and it would be great if it could be made portable.
VMWare has "hinted" that they might be concidering portable use for the new 6.0 beta, at least in the questionnaire they have beta testers fill out anyway.
Maybe if they get enough response they will put some real development time into it.

I just created a Portable VMware last night while i was watching the playoffs. It all works fine. It includes VMware Workstation, VMware PLayer and VMware Network Configuration. All together its about 760MB, and thats the price to pay for a good Program. Let me know if you wanna try it.
P.S. Its already activated. I tried it on three different pc's and it worked flawlessly on them.

It's illegal anywhere you post it.
Please do not offer illegal software to other members of the forum either via direct link or via an offer of contact (let me know if you want to try it, contact me via email, etc). This forum is not a venue for trading warez.
I meant to put in their that you should try out the demo of VMware and Thinstaller Virtualization Suite demo. I didnt mean to get the program.
P.S. try out the demo's of those programs, they are great.
Great! Thanks for your afford. Posting it here would be illegal. And I also think you don`t want to upload over 700 MB and then maintain all new version.
You could make many people happy if you would post some instructions to make it portable (or "just works") here. Or posting on portablefreeware.com (them collect links to legal downloads and legal instructions for portabilization there) and then post the link here.
