Seems to workgreat for me

All I had to do was click the speed dial button to access my speed dial and the history at bottom to access history

yippieh1:
I found a relatively current backup copy. Lost a few days only. What a relief!

yippieh2:
I have simply renamed opera_autoupdate.exe in all places.

Hah.

... and now

Version: 29.0.1795.47 - Restart Opera to update to version 29.0.1795.60

has turned into

Version: 29.0.1795.47 - An error occurred while checking for updates

*neneneneneneeee*

Stupid, updates breaking running system, really stupid.

But not mine. I opt out of all future updates!
