GMail Drive

I've got another one which would make a great app to use with this, if it's at all possible, http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm GMail Drive, would make a sweet addition to the PortableApps collection as well. It seems there are like 4 files and a few calls to the registry, but it looks like it should be possible to make it portable using the /Data/Registry folder to hold that information in. Maybe it would be possible even to do it so it doesn't require a registry hit since it can be run from the USBKey instead by the looks of the .inf file, making a hook to the PortableApps menu instead of the "My Computer" Explorer window. I don't know, maybe I'm just wishful thinking again...

There's a

Firefox extension which does this.
Can't remember what it was called...
Edit: Here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1593/

The 'FireFox Gmail

The 'FireFox Gmail extension' did not 'see' the files I originally stored with the 'GMail Drive shell extension'. So I guess you have to go with one or the other if you want to access all files you stored on a gmail account.

I can't find either of those

The Mozilla Add-ons site doesn't have any extensions by either of those names. Where'd you find them?

If you are referring to the Gmail Space extension, it doesn't instantly display things you stored previously. You need to click the login button, and wait a bit for the page to refresh. It will work, though. I use it all the time (mostly for online storage of a recent FEBE full profile backup, just in case).

I know about the FireFox Extension, but...

I knew about the firefox extension, I have it, but what if I want to access the "drive" on another computer that doesn't have that installed and don't want to bring up firefox to use it? Or don't want to use Firefox? This would make it possible to use without it, as it uses explorers shell to show the files. Besides, I need to lighten up firefox some so it's quicker than what it is. As I have too many extensions in it as it is. Most of the extensions I have though I consider necessities for the browers functionality. Like IE TAB/View, Windows Update, AdBlock+, GMail Manager, Local Install, PDF Download, and Image Toolbar plus a few others. I've even replaced the excellent FireFTP with FileZilla, but I would really like to get rid of the GSpace thing as well.

Ditch a few...

You can ditch the Windows Update extension. Since you have IE Tab, you can just add the Windows Update site to the list of sites it uses and then have a regular bookmark to it.

You can also ditch the PDF download extension. It's not necessary. Just click Tools - Options. Select the content tab. In the file types section click the Manage button. Select PDF and click the Change Action button. Select Save to my computer. Same functionality as PDF Download.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Disable it.

On my portable profile I disable any extension I only use infrequently, like gmail space and fireftp. It takes a bit of extra time when I do use them, but it gives me the same speed boost as removing them the rest of the time, without having to give up the functionality.
