Chrome Portable - Updating Flash without updating Chrome

I have Chrome 38.0.2125.101. It seems that Chrome now has flash integrated in Chrome so there's no separate addon to install for Flash. It seems the only way to update Flash is to update Chrome which I don't want to do.

Is there a way to update Flash in Chrome without updating Chrome? I'd like to have Flash as an addon like Firefox has and NOT integrated.

Manually Disable, Your Install Is Insecure

There may be some way to manually disable it. But Chrome would then be unable to use Flash at all once plugins support is entirely removed. Plugin support in Chrome is already deprecated (disabled by default and not recommended). It will be removed entirely shortly.

Your best option is to just keep Chrome up to date. We make it easy with the PortableApps.com Platform. Version 43.0.2357.134, that was just released a few hours ago by the chrome team, is being pushed out in portable form to platform users right now.

Your current version of Chrome 38 is *horribly* insecure. To the point that Flash is likely the least of your worries. Any website can execute any code they'd like on your machine right now.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

updating pepper flash

Yes, it's very easy:
1. Type chrome://components/ on url-bar (and hit enter)
2. locate "pepper_flash" and press "Check for update" button
3. wait some seconds and refresh this page
4. now it should be showing something like this:
pepper_flash - Version: 18.0.0.209
Status - New

5. Go to the adobe test site http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and check your version

I've already verified this procedure is working with Google Chrome 36.0.1985.143.
A new folder containing up-to-date pepper flash will be at "...\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\PepperFlash\18.0.0.209"
