The position is set based on the last relative position it was in when you closed it. Horizontally it remembers left edge middle or right edge. Vertically it remembers top middle or bottom. It will measure to the nearest location. It's done in this fashion to accommodate frequent changes in screen resolution between launches as you move between PCs.
