I have Thunderbird Portable and Firefox Portable set up and working. When I click on an email address in a web page, instead of opening a new email in Thunderbird as I expected, it brings up a dialog asking me to set up a Newsgroup account. What???
I just want to send an email from my Thuderbird Portable email.
url assoc may be set on host system
if this is a system you haven't used previously it may not know what your preferred url to program associations are.
in any event it is always worth checking what the url is, news should be nntp for instance

Thanks but I don't understand exactly the implications of what you are saying. www type urls are associated with my Firefox Portable. @ email type addresses should go to Thunderbird Portable which is set as my default email client. When I clicked on an email located on a web page in Firefox (non portable) then it opened in Thunderbird. Now in Firefox Portable/Thunderbird portable I get this meaningless (to me) dialog about setting up a newsgroup. What exactly do I do to make a simple click on an email address withing a web page go to Thuderbird??
