Firefox turning into Chrome?

Probably OT but: http://www.howtogeek.com/228131/firefox-is-about-to-become-an-almost-com... Not so sure I'm savvy with this. I know Chrome is "The" browser, but not for me.

Reason for sticking with firefox to die?

I've stuck with firefox because I prefer way it's extensions work over the more dumbed down chrome ones, with any luck one of the firefox forks will keep the current extension framework alive as some useful ones will die with the switch .... I also wonder if this shift will make firefox less portable
