as stated, when i update check, it wishes to update a program that's not installed. the culprit is jportable 8 update 66. i used to have this installed, but had uninstalled it. apparently, something is left that is causing this. i snooped around the folders to try and spot something to erase manually, but didn't find anything. does anyone know (to focus my search) which folder etc i should look in to spot the left overs? i checked the default data, the bin etc, but no obvious name jumps out at me.

jPortable aka Java Portable is a shared plugin, not an app. As such, it has no icon in the PA.c Platform. Java is used by apps like LibreOffice Portable, OpenOffice Portable and several unofficial apps.
You'll find it within the PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java directory and can manually delete it if you don't want it anymore.
