WHEN I TRY TO DOWNLOAD TO MY USB DRIVE THE UPDATE TO FIREFOX 2.0.0.2, THE INSTALL PROGRAM FIRST ATEMMPT A "PARTIAL" INSTALLATIÓN BUT NOT WORK. THEN AUTOMATICTLY RUN A TOTAL REINSTALL (7 MB) AND THE RESULT WAS OK BUT IT TAKES SO MUCH TIME (30 MIN IN 512 MB DSL CONECTION) ¿THIS IS NORMAL?

I think that sounds about right.... Installing to a USB Drive takes a long time. I by far recommend keeping a backup copy of your flash drive on your hard drive.
ie
Copy the root directory of your flash drive to c:\flash\
Then put the following file in your startup group:
drive.bat
@echo off
subst b: "c:\flash"
(You can change b to any unoccupied drive letter but as it is usually reserved for a 5 1/4" floppy that is rarely on any modern computer it's the one I use)
This sets up a b: drive so that it's an exact copy of your flash drive. Install any and all updates to that drive, it's much faster... You can even use it to run your portable apps off of on your home PC. Then use a program like DSynchronize to keep the virtual flash drive and your real flash drive synchronized.
Granted the synchronization might take a little time and it might be merely psychological on my part because I've never done an update twice and timed it each way but it seems like it takes less time for me. And there are other advantages to having the virtual version of your flash drive.

The long download time may be a slow internet connection and/or a slow USB drive.
BTW: Is it only me or is anyone else having the problem that the partial auto update of FF always fails?? I'm always forced to download the full package. After the update, FF wants to restart but the restart always fails and I have to do it manually.
I just wanted to know whether I'm the only one who has that problem (then its me) or whether this is more common (then its Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition)

NO, IT IS NOT ONLY YOU, BUT NO WORRY!! BECAUSE THIS IS ONLY A LITTLE MINOR PROBLEM. MOZILLA FIREFOX IS NOW AND WILL BE THE BEST WEB BROWSER EVER CREATED!!!
The reason they never used to work was because John UPXed the FF executables. AFAIK, it shouldn't be happening. Are you using an old version of Portable Firefox?

I have an "old" version of Firefox (I think 1.5.8 ) which I in-place-upgraded till 2.0.0.1.
I tried updating a virgin copy of MFFPE 2.0.0.1 to 2.0.0.2 and it want fast and smoothly. It used the patch (and not the full update) and re-launched by itself so maybe I'm just having a too old copy...

If you are using a FFP by John that is .paf compliant then you should be able to install right over your current version with a clean install. Then you can use the auto-update feature. Mine tried to update 4 times before I reinstalled FFP 2.0.0.1 with the .paf function, then let it auto-update.

I was able to update FFP with no problems. Took a couple of minutes over a cable modem.

Its considered YELLING if you do that in forums.
And maybe the "my update fails" error is just because you (and me) were not having enough space on their drives. Mozilla's built-in updaters need at least 50 MB to work properly and they don't check whether they have enough space or not. They just fail ans screw up your installation if they don't. But one new install of a fresh package of PFF over the old one fixes the error.

I just updated both my external HD and it took less then 5 min, depends on the drive I guess?
