Weird error : Firefox Sync would not work!

Hello folks,
Thank you very much for making my favorite browser portable and offering support for the same. I've been using it since couple of months without any problem until today. I recently updated the browser using inbuilt update manager and it worked fine for a while. Later I noticed that my Firefox account that meant to sync data is automatically logged out. When I tried to log in again, it popped up an error that said -"Cookies and local storage are required." On clicking try again, it says -"Cookies are still disabled". However I double checked that cookies are not really disabled.

What I did:
Restart without addons
Re-install fresh copy

I later noticed that when I install the portable firefox on pc, the sync feature works fine as usual and great as earlier. When I move the installation files on usb, it does not work. Moving back again to PC, works fine. I'm unable to understand what may cause this kind of weird error. Any ideas? Did I get something wrong with my flash drive? (it is San Disk Ultra 3.0 32Gb) Or it is some kind of universal bug?

Cache?

Do you have cache disabled? If so, that can disable local storage which disables sync.

about:config

Have you checked about:config? You can disable local data storage without affecting the cache setting. And ensure that your cache shows something cached in Advanced - Networking. It should say "Your web cache content is currently using 350MB of disk space" or something to that effect.

I'm unsure what to see in

I'm unsure what to see in "about:config" to figure out if cache is disabled from there. May be you can tell me. And in Advanced>Networking, it says -"Your web cache is currently using 0 bytes of disk space".

It is just irritating. It works fine on when installed on PC and It breaks down when I install it on USB or move the portable installation files from PC to usb.

Anyway, "browser.cache.disk

Anyway, "browser.cache.disk.enable" is set to "true".

Cache Disabled

In that case your cache is disabled. Unless you cleared it and haven't visited any pages since then.

Make sure browser.cache.disk.enable is set to true. Very old versions of Portable Firefox used to have it disabled if you've been using Firefox Portable for many many years (long before Sync existed) and never reset your profile.

Also, make sure that in the Options - Advanced - Network page the Override checkbox is unchecked... or that it is checked and that number is at least 10MB for safety.

Thank you!

Thank you for sincere efforts to help me out. I could not tolerate it any longer.. I did a math that if same installation files work on Pc hard drives and it does not on flash drive, then it has something to do with my flash drive. So I moved out all my data to local drive and formatted the flash drive, and re-installed Portable Firefox.. And unsurprisingly it's working now. I however am still unsure of the problem that led me do this. Anyway, thank you, thank you very much. Smile
