FireFoxPortable fails to start after updates

After FireFoxportable runs the latest update and I restart Firefox protable, I am unable to get the program to start. In the Task Manager under Processes tab, "Firefoxportable.exe" run then it goes away and nothing happens. Also, under the Applications tab in Task Manager, there is a file labled "_sp" that does the same thing. I am running this on my USB flash drive. When I delete FireFox portable from the drive and reinstall the program, it will run until it updates again. Any help on this would be appriciated.

Same here

After downloading the update, it didn't start. I tried again, now it started but a window popped up saying" incremental update failed. Downloading full package." When I click "yes" it only downloads about 800kb which is kinda small for a "full package".After restarting again, a window pops up and says "update 2.0.0.2 is available. download immediately."
So I'm kinda trapped in a circle.
As the second "full package" update isn't so big, I think maybe it is downloading the wrong package and all this is Mozilla's fault.

EDIT
No its not Mozilla's fault.

I took a virgin copy of FFP 2001, updated it to 2002 and copied my /Data folder to the new one.
Now everything works flawlessly.

space

last time this happened it was caused by lack of space on the usb drive. Try clearing some space and running it again.

Hmm I had no problem with both my HD's and SD card? I dunno? Maybe the space is an issue?

2.0.0.2 fails to start

Hello,

my FF fails to start too. Space isn't a problem because it is installed on HD. I assume that 2.0.0.2 is incompatible to PortableFF, so the partial update fails (as pointed out by other users of these forum) and FF tries to install a complete new 2.0.0.2.

Is there a failsafe start option with more logging info available?

Further, I tried to copy the whole Data directory below a new PFF-Installation, but no one of my former plugins are recognized?!

Regards, Ingo

Free Space

The usual cause of failure is not having enough free space:

I think it may be 40mb now. This applies whether you do the full or small update. It's an issue with Firefox' updater not checking for enough free space and crashing if there isn't.

How To Fix It

Almost forgot... if your Firefox Portable gets corrupted when trying to update due to lack of space, you can fix it by installing a new copy of Firefox Portable right over your existing one. Doing this doesn't change any of your data (bookmarks, etc). You can then free up space and let it update itself correctly.

Same Problem

I am having the same problem. The only way I have found to get FirefoxPortable going is to reinstall a backup copy made last week. But when I run it, Firefox insists on updating itself even though I have turned off automatic updates in the options section. That disables FirefoxPortable and I am back to square one.

Space

could have caused my update to fail.

Not enough free space

It looks like that was the problem. I had just under 30mb of space on my drive. I deleted some files off of the drive to get over 50mb of space and it is running fine. I guess I need to upgrade to a bigger USB drive. Thanks for everyone's help.

FireFox 2.0.0.11 Fails to start

I have well over 8 GB on my 80GB IOMega external, and have 57GB on another 100GB IOMega and FFP will not start. I get the FFP.exe and firefox.exe in Task Manager, but they both go away without opening. I had to reinstall FF on my machine. I use the full version of PA, and even reinstalled PA - which meant that my FFP reverted to a previous version, and it still would not start. I then upgraded FFP hoping that would fix it, to no avail. Thoughts?
