I only wanted to open a media file in VLC, and now i have to ask permission?
What is going on and why, it has never happened before i upgraded to Windows 10.
My portable apps have been updated along the way but this is unprecedented behavior I believe.
Community needs to address the issue, and fast
Apps are not permitted to directly associate files in Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. Apps can only tell Windows they are available for an association. Windows itself will then ask the user if they want to change something. This is by design to prevent apps from stealing associations.
If you dislike this behavior, you have to talk to Microsoft.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Perhaps portable apps can, by default, not tell Windows they are available for an association?
