No X-out on my tabs..The "X" is light in color as though it's unavailable... I wiped folder and brought back up. Still NG. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'd wager it's either an extension or a video card issue off the top of my head. If a fully clean install with no extensions has the issue, have you tried disabling CPU hardware acceleration in the advanced configuration editor?

Yah John I removed the Walnut theme..And it was OK..Walnut wasn't flagged so I went for it..Guess it doesn't like 45.0..Thanks for the quick reply..
Well, I'm running two other copies as well on the same PC..I have one for my IT job, and another personal using the ESR version...Those are cool...I'll check in my company laptop with the same acct, and see what's up (after making sure it's updated) But this lappy was recently re-upped so it's not all snarled up with reg probs, or detritus..
Could you post a link to ver. previous to 45. My portable Thunderbird upgraded and ver. 45 is some kind of nightmare with broken compatibilities and this damn blue color I can't get rid of! I badly want to downgrade to previous ver., but can't see link to download it.
The older versions of Thunderbird are insecure and should not be used. Most extensions should be updated by now. Any that aren't probably shouldn't be used any longer.
Thunderbird pulls color from your Windows theme. Unless you're using an older broken Thunderbird theme. You can also use Personas themes by using the Personas Plus extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/personas-plus/

I don't care if they are or aren't secure - they WORK correctly. I badly need my addons to work, and I cant get rid of this damn blue color. Just want to downgrade one ver. Yesterday everything was fine, today my mails are mess! Please just post a link if you can.
My theme is DARK, and Thunderbird display light blue background behind tabs - it looks like crap. 45 is half-assed ver and I just wish to downgrade!
I'd suggest looking at the extension homepages to see if they are supported anymore.
You can get old versions of Thunderbird here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Thunderbir...
They are insecure and unsupported by Mozilla and PortableApps.com. We only support the current secure release.
See my note above about Thunderbird theming.

THANK YOU!
Update: FFS, now, after downgrade, other half of my addons don't work because they upgraded for 45... what a bloody mess. I so deeply regret I updated everything yesterday. Since I am able to run at least most important addons on 45 and can't do this on previous ver I guess I stuck with 45 DAMN IT! I don't like extension you posted, I just want system colors behind tabs. Any sugestion/idea what to do to get rid of this carpy looking light blue background? It's drawing me crazy every time I see it, and I see it a lot...
It's most likely from a broken extension or theme if you're referring to the area behind the tabs. If you mean the tabs themselves, that's a different story. By default, Thunderbird uses the default system colors and aero at the top behind tabs. So, on Windows 7, the tabs themselves and the toolbar (Get Messages, Write, etc) will be light blue as that is the system accent color and the area of the titlebar of the window itself and the area behind the tabs will be aero glass (if enabled on Windows). You'll also see the same light blue as the toolbar background color in Windows Explorer and elsewhere in the OS. If that's the blue you don't like, you can install a complete theme to change it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/complete-themes/

It's not broken extension - got the same mess with fresh install with no addons.
I have seen plenty of complains on other forum, ppl have the same problem.

I can confirm the blue is new to the Thunderbird UI on Windows 10. I hadn't noticed it yet as I am using it on Windows 8.1 where it does not show up. That would be an issue for the Mozilla folks.
Until fixed, you can install an alternate full theme or use the personas extension. You can even create your own persona with the solid color of your choice as the background if it doesn't already exist.
Some folks discussed it here: http://www.ghacks.net/2016/04/13/thunderbird-45-0-has-been-released/

After I updated to 45 it lost my accounts settings (made it look like default ones) and now it doesn't save settings changes I make. Which mean that I just can't use my mail. Please help!

P.S. Sorry for my english

This is nearly always a malfunctioning extension. Often because it hasn't been updated in a while and is incompatible with the current release. Please disable all extensions to determine which it is. If it isn't allowing you to disable, please start in safe mode to do so. If that's not working, I would suggest looking for issues with your drive.

First thing I ususally do when installing new version is disabling all plugins and extensions. So it has none of them turned on. I've tried safe mode - it didn't help me.
I tried to reinstall it, creating new folders in new places. Tried to run as administrator. No use.

I've just tried to downgrade to some old versions. Same issue. Looks like it's pe-mail provider fault, not 'Thunderbird'.

T-Bird Portable 45 on W10 was an unsolicited upgrade, which caused my mail accounts getting lost and database not connected (hopefully still intact). What can I do to recover?
We have made no changes to Thunderbird Portable. If you experience an issue, please create a new post in the Thunderbird support forum and include: OS version, full install path, current version, version upgraded from, etc.
