Good point, Simeon. I forgot that Sunbird supports this now. I added a full writeup:

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
but I didn't even needed the locale switcher.
Is it really necessary?

Otherwise it'll use whatever the language of the PC is if that pack is installed. If I install the DE pack, it has no effect. Until I add in the locale switcher and use it.

I couldn't see that from here
John, I caught a mistake on the Localization page :"The disadvantage is that if your drop a local profile into Sunbird Portable, you'll need to perform these steps again."

i use the 0.5 portable version and wanted to use the german locale.
what i did is:
- i downloaded the "de.xpi" language file
- then i installed it as an "extension".
- after that i changed the configuration property "genera.useragent.locale" to 'de-DE'
reloaded and it works.
greetings from germany,
thomas
does that only work on german speaking PCs?
