Ended up having to delay because of the server being overloaded... the old host was about to shut the site down. Now that we're on the new one (which just happened), I'm just waiting to release the other apps that were ready. I did FF, OO and GIMP on Thursday/Friday. Miranda, VLC, TB will happen when I get back to NYC on Wed. I'll probably do ClamWin and a couple others on Thurs/Fri. FF 1.5.0.2 is almost out and will need to be packaged.
It looks like I should finally be able to do a Suite update next week. Finally. And yes, this time, it's for reals.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Did you try removing the help files? You can also remove some of the dictionary files for other languages. (hunt around... they have the country codes in the names) It isn't appropriate for the full release... but no reason you can't do it yourself.

There are a few online resources for help... all findable via Google. Heck, zip it up and use it w/o for a while and if you want it back, drop it back in

Is there some way I can remove Help without impacting OOo itself? I mean, will it give me errors when I try and do things that activate the HelpAssistant?
I imagine I'd lose quite a bit by removing all those text/HTML files I don't need... such as the 188KB "THIRDPARTYLICENSEREADME.HTML" file... But I'd get in trouble with the copyright police, so...
You can't get in trouble for deleting stuff from your own copy of the program, no matter what files you're deleting--that's fair use. It's when you delete the license files etc. and then redistribute that modified copy that you run into problems.
Did you also delete the Thesaurus ("th") files to do this? Some people do this either intentionally or by accident when they are cleaning out dictionary files. I left them in, though they alone take up over 21 MB.
This is what I have left in the "\PortableOpenOffice\OpenOffice\share\dict\ooo" directory:
I was waiting on the Thunderbird 1.5 release which happened today. Portable Thunderbird will be out soon followed by a suite update.

Ack! Too many apps! I want them all! My precious!
Unfortunately, not enough room for more than POOo and PGaim in my 230MB drive... *tear*

Damn... Just removing the unneeded dictionary files shot me up to about 60 free MBs (I started with about 28MB).
I'm debating whether to remove the help, though, since I don't know OOo like I know Microsoft Office... What would you recommend?

I might write up a guide on how to shrink POO.o -- I bet many people could use it!

That would be great!

DicOOo.sxw
dictionary.lst
en_US.aff
en_US.dic
FontOOo.sxw
hyph_en_US.dic
th_en_US_v2.dat
th_en_US_v2.idx
WordNet_license.txt
- please dont write next week if this date is unsure.
Maybe P7zip could be integrated in this package too.
But I wound up having to handle a couple trademark issues before releasing. As software becomes more prominent, these things crop up.

Maybe create a Windows 98 and a Windows XP compatible package.
