I just tested a standard install of 12.05 and it asks to update to 14.1 when set to standard mode or beta channel. So something is up with your install. Did you for some reason rename one of the folders or something?
I'd suggest manually downloading 14.1 from the Download link above. Once downloaded, run it, select to install to a custom location, and select the folder containing your Start.exe as well as PortableApps and Documents folders.

btw the gif tool was not record the gui
Downloading a new platform and running the installer pointing it to the root directory that contains Start.exe, Documents, and PortableApps is exactly what the updater does. The updater just feeds the installer the install location so it can run automatically without prompting you.
But, again, did you in any way alter any of the directories manually for some reason? You should have a directory you installed into (usually the root of a removable drive, the root of your shared cloud drive, or your Users\Account local folder. This directory contains Start.exe, PortableApps, and Documents. The PortableApps directory contains all your apps plus a PortableApps.com folder that contains the platform, updater, backup, etc.

Good to hear it's working. I'm still not sure why you weren't prompted to update unless you were using one of the test versions of either the platform or the updater that I'd posted to test some language switching back in the 12.05 days (I rediscovered these alternate versions while attempting to recreate your issue).

In every release, it's under Apps or Manage Apps (for older versions) or Help.
Note that it's best to keep the updater on and running automatic updates daily.
