We host it ourselves so even if the publisher's site is hacked after we package, it won't affect our users. Even a publisher who self-hosts, if you use the PortableApps.com Platform, you're protected, since we verify and hash each release of each app before updating it in the database for users to download. If the publisher alters it after we verify it, the PortableApps.com App Store/Updater in the platform will refuse to install it until we verify it again and update the database.
