When submitting or editing new content I get a double Cacha. I click on the "I am not a robot" capcha and get a green check mark. When I click save I get a "To complete this form, please complete the word verification below." I then am prompted to enter an alphanumeric capcha.I am then allowed to post. Is this by design or a bug? It does it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. It did it for the 'internet apps" forum but not for "general discussion." I hope that this is in the right subforum. Please let me know what you think. I am using Google Chrome Version 54.0.2840.71 m (64-bit). Thanks

Likely your IP address is in a bad neighborhood (some spammers in nearby addresses) and is triggering both of our content protection mechanisms (stopforumspam and mollom). Unfortunately, we can't disable either one without the site becoming overrun with spam.
It's also possible to trigger it due to the number of links in your post. Your previous post had 4, for instance, which means it's much more likely to trip the spam detector.

I have to reopen this one. posting in the forums is a real nightmare.
2 picture capchas + sometimes also put in the letters/numbers.
its always like and I understand there might be many links or my ip is in some whatever but seriously I never encounter this anywhere else for a logged in user.
I understand you are protecting yourself from spam but you must find a better way, you don't see that in other forums or websites for logged in users.
I believe that the captcha and the I'm not a Robot mechanism that's used here is supplied or provided in some way by Google. You should probably take your concerns to them if this is the case.

Are you getting double captcha on a single page load, or is the second (or more) captcha appearing on a separate page load after you've already satisfied one captcha?

It's completely automatic. The only manual one we have is Google's ReCaptcha at startup. In addition to that we have StopForumSpam and Mollom which handle things on an automated basis. They use a combination of content and IP address/neighborhood to handle things. If you're using an IP address that's used by spammers a lot or in the same netblock as spammers, you'll get challenges for basically every post.

I can't say if my ip address sucks, I know it changes daily (adsl) but I can say that I use many other online services, mainly github but not just and I don't get those.
important to mention that usually logged in users in other websites never get any such checks, well.... I never saw any, except here.
now, i do understand why to use it when posting as a visitor, but not as a logged in user.
usually capcha + email verification are used during registration process, but once you are a user and logged in, they don't annoy you with these things.
Users are not allowed to post without logging in, so we're not getting spam from anonymous posters, however, PortableApps.com is a big enough site that it's a really big target for spammers. I believe there are measures in place to prevent spammers from signing up and getting user accounts, but they're not imperfect, and spammers do get through, hence why there are measures in place to catch spam posts from logged in 'users'.

Even with accounts required and email confirmation of account signups, we were seeing 200+ spam messages a day. It's because our site runs on Drupal and, like WordPress, there are automated bots that spam constantly. This is currently the only way to have the site usable.
