I'm wondering what makes something to work on a Flash Drive or etc and not on a CDRW?
I know most programs do indeed work ,but some do not work, such as OpenOffice

very easily and CDRW not. For CDRW you need a cd burner or something like that to burn files. Thats not usable with something like portableapps because they write to the drive often.
And BTW: Openoffice DOES work from a CD.

Actually, EXACTLY that - NO other device writes to a CD than a CD burnin' drive... (except of course for a good "Sharpie" marker, and that's not much help!).
"Openoffice DOES work from a CD" - except for saving files you create back TO the CD. But then, you can save 'em to the HDD of the host PC - if you have clearance/permissions to do so (else, write said files onto the CD with the aforementioned Sharpie...)

You could also use a DVD burner
Also, if you're writing to the disc with a Sharpie, you'll need a big disc

I think its best to use one of these old gramophone discs.
They are huge...;-)

Speed. Programs typically write a lot, and CD burners can't handle it.
