Firefox 49

Hi everybody,

I'm running into a weird problem with the latest version of Firefox portable. In version 49.0.x, the program stops responding and is never loading.
When I start it, I can see in my task bar (yes, Windows system) 2 windows for Firefox: 1 for the program itself (where the home page stays blank indefinitely - at least 5 minutes, after that, I kill it) and 1 I can't open.
I've already tried several ways to install it without success.
And as I don't see topic about this issue in the forum, I suppose it has something to do with my own installation.

Can you give me some advice's or things I can check?

Thank you very much!

The very same issue with the latest Firefox version: 50
I have to stay with Firefox 48 if I want it to run 'portable'.

Extension or Plugin

It's likely an extension or plugin which is incompatible with Firefox 49 and later. You'll need to start in safe mode to determine which one it is (start FirefoxPortable.exe from the command line with --safe-mode as a parameter).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Hi John,

Hi John,
It was one of my tries. Unfortunately, even in safe mode, Firefox doesn't start. And the buttons are inoperative. So I can't enter the addons page (even by entering the path in the address bar).
Using my Firefox 48 to disable everything before the upgrade doesn't solve the problem neither.

I've made a fresh install on

I've made a fresh install on Firefox50 on my USB key (so new profile). And it doesn't work. I still have those 2 windows opening in the same time in my taskbar. One for the browser itself and another smaller one. If it would be possible to upload a png, I could show you what I mean exactly.
It may be related to the plugins but as it's a new installation and not an update, I don't understand what's it's trying to load at start. Flash Player?

Local

Try running firefox.exe directly. This will be like running a local copy of Firefox in regular mode and storing your data in APPDATA. This will determine if Firefox can run at all on this particular PC. If it fails, you'll need to figure out why (antivirus, corporate policy, bad video card driver, etc).

Afterwards, you can browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local and \Roaming and remove the Mozilla\Firefox folders if you'd like as long as another copy isn't being used and you don't mind losing that data.
