it doesn't seem to be open-source as it has an option to pay for a version that has more features then the free option and I see nothing that includes a gnu gpl, I might be able to make a luancher for it so that you can use. Just give me a couple of days to play with it and see were everything is saved registry wise and appdata wise

...settle down. If people do not want to provide very much info then they shoulg get what they paid for, nothing.

And couldn't even be bothered to type it out again, it's the same on my one!

He is not doing it on "everyones"; he's only doing it on those who aren't considerate enough to give us the proper info about the app they're speaking about.
And providing some descriptor of the proggy requested is addressed under both the "Unofficial Request Guidelines" AND the "Request format" sticky items at the top of the board page...
So perhaps you should "be bothered to" read them, eh?...
'Nuff said.

Actually, it doesn't say it on the Reqest Format (specificaly anyway)!

You can provide one, but it makes no difference to me whether you do or not.
Oh, and I should know, I wrote the Request Format

@ Cheat King:
No, 'tis not 'specificaly' said under Request format, but it is *implied* under "Anything else which might help".
And, it IS 'specificaly' mentioned in the language of the other sticky item I referenced...
"I don't hate cats...as long as they stay on the freeway, where they belong."
- Brad Stine
I typed one word in all caps. That ain't exactly yelling.
And, by not providing the info, it is we also who "pay for" it, by way of the frustration of wondering wtf the person is talking about, and having to post back to ask for the info (else googling it on our own). Not cool.
Aren't the 'sticky' guidelines items at the top of the page stuck there for a reason?..
"I don't hate cats...as long as they stay on the freeway, where they belong."

You don't need a description when the title of the program makes it fairly obvious.

And I don't see you saying in the frespire topic to use the request format OR do a description!
Are you just picking on n00bs?

Frespire topic?
The Request Format is the suggested format made by me to improve the quality of the requests. You don't have to do a description since it's not necessary for the developers like me and John.
Also, I'm definitely not picking on n00bs. You don't become a moderator by picking on the new guys.

And thanks for agreeing about the description, I knew you would know about Lazarus, I mean, John writes some programs in Lazarus/Delphi!

@ rmccue
Yes, the "Request Format" helps to improve the quality of the requests. No question.
However, the board is also for us end-users, and because of that, the "Un-official Request Apps Guidelines" by wsm23 helps improve the quality of the requests even further.
The reason I say that is simple:
Many of us end-users see something requested and would like for ourSELVES to see what the person is talking about, becuz perhaps the app is one we would be interested in seeing as a portable app as well (esp. if we didn't know the app even existed before seeing it requested here!)
IOW, it may not be "necessary for the developers like me and John", but it's quite helpful for the rest of us folk.

@ Cheat King:
No reason for me to post that about the 'frespire' thread, for the following reasons:
1) I know what Freespire is; I have it already
2) The author tells you in the text of his post what 'frespire' is - he sez
"open source os". 'Nuff said there.
"I don't hate cats...as long as they stay on the freeway, where they belong."
- Brad Stine
All it tells you is that it's an OS, it don't tell you that it's Linux.

Free live CD of an open-source OS (all of which the post did say) pretty much cinches it.
Or in other words "do the math..."

You yourself said that they should make it as easy as possible for the reader. And 'Doing the math' isn't a strong point for me.

@ rmccue:
The name of this app tells us only that it deals with "media".
That could leave one wondering the following:
1) Does it deal with "hard" media - physical CD/DVD/HDD discs?
2) Or, does it deal with media software filetypes: WMV, MPG, WAV, MP3, AVI, and the like?
3) OR, does it deal with *both*?
Assuming it is #1 *or* #2 (but not both), there are still the following questions:
4) Does it catalog the media in question?
5) Does it repair them?
6) In the case of filetypes, does it create and/or edit them?
7) Does it do any or all of the above 3 things?
8 ) Does it perhaps do none of the above, and perform some other function I've not mentioned thus far?...
And so on...
*That*, boys and girls, is why descriptors are quite helpful basic information to provide, and I suspect is why wsm23 specified a descriptor in his "Un-official Request Apps Guidelines" sticky...
"I don't hate cats...as long as they stay on the freeway, where they belong."
- Brad Stine
To sort this all out, I've added the description section to the Request Format.
You don't need to specify one, but you should.
That is all I shall say on the matter.
End of conversation.
