problem launching PDF-Xchange Editor (not so with Viewer)

system: Win 7 Sp1 x86
This is an issue on my side, trying to run the new PDF-X Editor. I have successfully used the PDF-X Viewer.
As a note, this problem occurs with the publisher's original software as well.
The issue seems to be the DLL that is being used as a call from the exe - the problem is that the program does not launch. The executable (PDFXEdit.exe) may sometimes appear TaskMgr before the process terminates w/o any log present in event viewer. PDF-X Viewer did not have this issue because it uses an exe file as the main program.
In addition, both the regular installer and portable app have the same issue. I've gone to the Microsoft knowledge base site and tried the solutions for problems when programs do not launch, but nothing solved this issue. Again, I believe that the manner in which the DLL is being used is my issue. I do have all the necessary C++ redistributables installed, in case that was at fault.
The problem is clearly on my end, any clues as to where to look is appreciated...

Publisher Question

It's really more of a publisher question than here. We just package it in PortableApps.com Format without modification. Lots of apps have a significant portion of their functionality in DLLs or even a majority of it (LibreOffice/OpenOffice for example). This shouldn't function any differently. If there is something on your PC interfering with this particular app, the usual root would be checking your antivirus (is it interfering with the app), checking for infection, reinstalling the Visual C++ libraries, ensuring Windows is updated with all updates via Windows Update, etc.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
