Do Portable apps shorten the life of an iPod?

Do they, if so how much life is taken from the iPod?
Also are portable apps faster on an iPod rater than a thumbdrive (since the iPod has a hard drive).

i dont know about the life

i dont know about the life thing but i would assume not, also the speed at which the apps run is dependand on the processor on the computer and the usb version (ex 1.0,1.1,2.0). i use a portable harddrive now and it runs just as fast as my old thumb drive

Yes

Everything you use off a USB drive shortens the life of it. iPods are made to be used a lot anyway, since you play songs all the time.
Short version: It will, but not by much.

ipods

Ipods are not as durable as that, they often get failing bateries in around a year. So the flash disk is the least of your concerns when you talk about the ipod's durability thereforce portable apps shouldn't be a concern to you

(meh, you would use the ipod for playing music which would also use the flash disk and reduce durability as much as portable apps)
