Goto "extras" -> "Add-ons" and drop the xpi in the window that opens.

Some are not very portable friendly though.
You will first want to disable anti-phishing if you are new.
Tools>Options>Security> Un-check the "Tell me if the site I am visiting is a suspected forgery". (Hogs space and too many read/writes)
You will also want to disable the recently closed tabs feature. (Read/write issues) I use Tab Mix Plus and it is under that option. Not sure where it is under "normal FF".
