Hi All,
Happy new Year....
Wondering if anyone has come across CrockSteX.exe on their system in Startup as a Service?
Have no idea what it is, does, etc.... Ive searched online, multiple search engines and forums...Any help in solving the id'ing of said file would be appreciated...
When I first located it on my Windows Pro machine, i found it through use of Advanced System Care ver 11... I was unable to rename, move, delete, basically was unable to do anything... I tried to remove the item as I knew it had nothing to do with any of the softrware apps that I use... Wouldnt be surprised if I review startup area, services, etc on a daily bases (sometime during the day)... Dont know why, but I;ve grown into the habit of looking for what has changed on my system... Not interested in being hijacked....
So, I started the work of running various virus and malware apps to see if I can rid myself of damn file... Ran the following malware programs adwcleaner, junkware removal, malwarebytes, and finally HitmanPro... No hits on the file.... Same with the Antivirus apps...
At this time I was now able to at least change the name of the directory.... Still nothing else...
I have check all permissions, highest setting possible...
I'm not even sure this is a questionable file or not... My hunch is, it is...
If you can inform me otherwise, great...
Murph
Thanks again... Happy new year... My 18, be the best...
However, for some reason malwarebytes removed my Advanced System Pro 11 app.... all of my other IObits apps were left alone...
