libreoffice 32 vs 64 bit

I downloaded libreoffice 6.0.2 (now latest is 6.0.3) short while ago. On running it, task-manager shows it's running in 32-bit mode, not 64.

The ~.paf.exe file's name doesn't indicate whether it's 32. 64, or 32-64 bit mode. If latter, how to execute it in 64-bit mode?

Same question applies to OpenOffice ~.paf.exe. In my particular case I actually need 64-bit portable version.

thx

See here

Please see here for an explanation of how 32-bit and 64-bit are handled: https://portableapps.com/node/24371

My questions are:

My questions are:

1) how do we know if libreoffice ~paf.exe is 32 or 64 bit (file name does not indicate, neither does description)
2) if both (32-64), how do we run it in 64 bit

I assume Libreoffice is 32 bit - correct?

32-bit

Like most apps, LibreOffice Portable is 32-bit only as 99.99% of LibreOffice users will see no advantage to the 64-bit version.

As explained in the link above, we do dual mode apps when it makes sense and it's handled completely automatically. Apps like 7-Zip. Even apps like Firefox where most users won't see an advantage. You run the launcher like usual (FirefoxPortable.exe, etc) and it automatically runs the 32-bit or 64-bit version based on the version of Windows you are currently using.

John - fully understand

John - fully understand/appreciate your points.

Reason I'm asking is I'm attempting to use portable JABREF (https://www.fosshub.com/JabRef.html) w/ portable LO. Not sure if its possible to install both 32 and 64 bit JAVA on 64 bit machine - currently I've 64 bit java installed. Issue is that 64 bit JABREF cannot connect to 32 bit LO. They BOTH have to be 32 or 64 bits, cannot be mixed to successfully work together. That is my challenge.

32-bit

LibreOffice Portable is 32-bit. It utilizes 32-bit Java within jPortable when installed to the appropriate location (PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable alongside PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java). This is automatically handled by the LibreOfficePortable.exe launcher. I don't use or support JabRef itself, so I can't help you with installation there.

libreoffice 32 vs 64 bit (solved)

While I appreciate John's responses, I did find a solution.

It's important for me to have both LibreOffice and JabRef execute as portable apps. The problem is both LibreOffice [LO] and portable JabRef jar file require to run as 32 bits or 64 bits - can't be mixed. My problem was LO is only offered in 32 bit version and I have 64 bit JAVA installed.

Solution:
(1)download 32 bit ~.tar.gz version JAVA from...
>>> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2...
(2)make a ~.bat file next to JabRef jar file with "path\to\32bit\java.exe" -jar .\JabRef~.jar

There's probably a better/alternative solution but this solves my problem.

jPortable

If you grab jPortable from here, it's an already portable package of Java that will be automatically updated by the PortableApps.com Platform along with LibreOffice Portable. And LibreOffice Portable will automatically use it for its own internal functions that depend on Java. Then just add 32-bit JabRef on your own and work out the command line.

It's likely a portable JabRef will be introduced at some point. There's an older test version here: https://portableapps.com/node/26968
