Keepass 2 - Database, plugins and settings removed on update

Hi,

First of all, it's great to have KeePass 2 on PortableApps!

Today when updating to the latest KeePass version, my database, settings and plugins got lost.

I had placed settings and database in "PortableApps\KeePassProPortable\App\KeePassPro\" directory.
I had placed plugins in "PortableApps\KeePassProPortable\App\KeePassPro\Plugins\" directory.

Where should I place those files in order to avoid trouble in the future?

Thanks!

App vs Data

Sorry to hear that. The entire AppNamePortable\App directory and its contents are generally removed on updates to any app in PortableApps.com Format. There is a readme.txt within the App directory saying that the contents should not normally be accessed directly but I think that could be more clear, so I will update it to spell this out. Think of the App directory like the Program Files directory on your local drive as they're similar and Data as more like your USERPROFILE\AppData directory. KeePass Pro Portable will default to the Data directory when creating new databases and is configured to look there by default for existing ones.

Your Plugins are supposed to be saved but the config file wasn't updated from KeePass so it's still looking for the KeePass directory rather than KeePassPro.

I've built a revision to (1) update the readme.txt to make it more clear that contents will be deleted, (2) preserve the Plugins and PluginCache directory on upgrades, and (3) preserve any kdbx files that users accidentally store within the App\KeePassPro directory. It will be released sometime today.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

App vs Data

Hi John,

Thank you for your answer. In my case I had a backup so nothing got lost. Thanks for taking the time to release an update, I'll test it out and let you know if I find any issues.
