Problem with local profile import

I want to use my local tb profile & mails in tb portable, therefore I copied prefs.js, abook.mab and the ImapMail/Mail foders to the tb portable profile folder (before starting it the 1st time). But when I start tb from my removeable drive it will still use the local profile (instead of the one on the usb drive). I noticed that in prefs.js absoulte paths are used (e.g. for .server.serverN.directory) and they still point to the local mail folders. So here's my question: How can I set them correctly? If I just use "\\ImapMail\\...." it will create a mail folder in the documents & settings dir.
Thanks for your help!

Too complicated.

You are making it too complicated.

You simply need to copy your entire Thunderbird\Data\profile to the to your \PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile.

It's that simple. Don't pick and chose which files you want.

I think the launcher takes care of the absolute paths, but Im not sure.

Complete profile didn't work either

At first I tried to copy my entire profile, but this didnt work either.
My second approach was then to copy the indiviual files as stated on the support page: Sometimes, certain profiles will cause the launcher to fail or hang. In that case, start from scratch and try just copying your mailstores (Mail and ImapMail directories) as well as your prefs.js and abook.mab files. Since I don't need the plugins I have in my local installation I thought it was a good idea.
Oh I forgot to mention, that on my local installation, the actual mail files are stored on a different path (not in the profile directory itself). Any ideas?

Problem

Your mail files *MUST* be in the profile for it to work. Non-standard layouts won't work with the portable version.

That's the case in the portable version, I copied the Mail and ImapMail folders to \PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile but how do I adjust the prefs.js accordingly?

Wipe em out

I think wiping out the old path from your prefs.js will do it.

it's working

You're right! I removed the absolute entries and set the "...-rel" entries (like mail.server.server2.directory-rel) to "[ProfD]ImapMail/..." for imap and "[ProfD]Mail/..." for pop and now it works! Thanks a lot for helping me out :-).
