Alternative menu for PortableApps

I like the PortableApps suite, but I find the standard menu a bit limited. In particular, things I'd like to be able to do:

  • select which shortcuts appear (I know, this is due in the next version)
  • change the icon and/or description
  • choose the order of the menu items
  • include arguments to commands (for example, to run Java programs or scripts using a JRE/interpreter on the drive)
  • create submenus (Games, Office, Internet, etc...)

I've seen PStart (and used it in the past) and it goes a long way to doing this, but I'm not sure how to integrate it with the PortableApps structure. And its look is not as nice. Does anyone have any suggestions on using PStart in place of the standard menu? Or any suggestions of other menu programs?

I'm surprised this hasn't come up before - I tried searching the site but came up pretty empty. If I did miss a relevant posting, I'd appreciate a pointer.

Thanks,
Paul.

I'm...

Pretty sure every single one of your suggestions has already been asked about.

Just search in the search box. (Toop right corner of sight)

When you find a post about a parcticular addition you have requested, read thru and you'll learn what the plan is porbally, of how to do it. For example, changing icons has already been asked about in the Firefox Portable forum.

I did try searching

I did try searching. I'm sure these things have been discussed before, but I tried, and couldn't find the threads. It may be because there aren't any particularly good search terms to use ("menu" "icon" "change" are all pretty generic...)

I just tried again ("menu change the icon" in the search box). I couldn't find the posting you're referring to. Is there any chance you could post a link?

Thanks,
Paul.

Yea.

You're right, searching can be a little hard sometimes.
