Chrome Broke Yesterday

I am not sure where to post this but I felt that I must.

Yesterday morning (December 10th) I went to use the Chrome browser and it would not load. Nothing. Not even settings. I had been using it all weekend, and the night before I THINK I used it not sure - but I was on the computer until 2 am without any Portable Apps issue. But yesterday morning, I suddently got the "aw snap" error. I looked at the files and my profile folder had updated that morning. I'm not an expert in how the browser files work - but that was the folder with an indicated change - and I don't remember doing any changes from the night before. I also finally was able to get one other error: err-7620 Could Not Determine Workspace for Application.

I checked the drive for errors that its running from - no issues. Checked the firewall - even turned it and my anti-virus off to test. Did not work. Opera and FF worked fine. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Chrome app. Nothing worked. I even tried another USB stick that I use for backup - but I made the mistake of updating the Platform - then it wouldn't work.

Finally, I reformatted the USB, and copied the last backup that I had with the last Platform. I mounted the USB with the internet OFF so that it would not force the Platform update. Chrome is working fine. I think something with the last Platform update is a problem. Please check this out because Chrome is a necessary browser for me as a college instructor and I love your app (I have donated to you in the past - will again soon).

Note - I am using Windows 7.

Oracle-Related?

Nothing in the platform affects the usage of Chrome Portable when it is run or running. It only serves to install, update, and run GoogleChromePortable.exe. The code that handles anything related to running apps has not been updated since 15.0, so the new 16.0 update would be unrelated. If the platform is somehow being sandboxed by something on your system (antivirus, etc) it could affect the platform and all apps run from it. We don't support or recommend using such sandboxing techniques.

The error you referenced appears to be something Oracle related. Any ideas?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
