This has been bugging me...

This has been something that has annoyed me with Portable Apps Suite for a little while now. It has to do specifically with the way the main Portable Apps Suite window works.

There are some programs that can work on a USB thumb drive without having to modify them. Such programs as Ad-Aware, Skype, or even PerfectDisk. The problem is that these programs sometimes have multiple EXE files inside of the main folder. The problem is that the main PortableApps menu automatically lists any EXE found in the PortableApps folder. So you're left with a mess of useless icons in the menu. Here's a screenshot of what I mean:

As you can see, there are a number of 'iconless' icons in the PortableApps Menu that are automatically listed, due to the fact that PerfectDisk has a number of random EXE's in its install folder.

So, my question is... Is there a way i can stop the PortableApps Menu from listing a specific icon in the list? I have attempted making the files hidden, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

Why dont you search first?

This has been asked and discussed many times before.
Officially, there is no way of making the menu ignore certain exes. But there are workarounds and the hope that this option will be included in a future version.

Oh, because i knew some cool forum jock would ask me the very same question you did, while somewhat reluctantly giving me the answer in the end anyway.

The Problem with this method

The problem with this method,

"Oh, because i knew some cool forum jock would ask me the very same question you did, while somewhat reluctantly giving me the answer in the end anyway."

in addition to the ones pointed out already are:

1. Some "NOT cool forum jock" will often tell you to search and NOT give you the answer.

2. You have now admitted that you could have searched but chose not to, this makes you appear lazy.

3. As this is your first day as a poster, point 2 above makes You Not Cool Sad

4. Point 3 above will be remembered for future reference.

Hey, I'm cool. I just don't think I should be someone's personal database.

But.

It seems simple enough to type "Removing unwanted exe's" in the search box is very quick and easy and would be quicker and nicer than a double/triple/quadruple... topic in the forums.

Ah well...

Considering i have close to 10,000 posts in anther forum i frequent, the views and opinions of the members of this forum don't mean much to me.

Sorry to disappoint.

I'm afraid...

I'm afraid that in order to comply with the forum guidelines, you should respect other members (including Simeon and Tim Clark). It is not complying to call another member a "cool forum jock", and then saying that you don't care about the members of this website. Really, for people clogging up the server with already discussed topics, John should charge you to be a member so he can buy more server space. This is volunteer work. He doesn't have to let anyone be a member . As Tim Clark said, you have purposefully wasted our time and wasted server space .
