The issue of Picasa is pretty well settled (unless Google has a change of heart) but there are other photo management programs. Is there one which can be made portable. I know there are those who question the use of such a program but I want one that can ride on my 60GB usb drive and work from anyone else's computer.
Irfanview or XnView are some possibilities. I believe there are portable versions of both of these.

I use this one

My personal favorite viewer is http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm . Not open source, but free for home users and has a portable version. The only thing I find missing is a good cataloging system. I still use ifanview occasionally for batch renaming of files. Nothing compares for that function.
I have been looking for a cataloging system for my photos, but anything adequate costs mucho $$$$ and are built for professionals.

Ah, yes. Irfanview is one of my favorites. And has all the picture viewing and modification capabilities I need. (well, except for layers, which I have never really learned to work with. Photobie does those, as well as GIMP, which is mostly too hard to use.) Irfanview can do the website design stuff too.
It is the cataloging and retrieval functions that I seek in a portable system.

Hi all. I would like some information whether a Photoviewer is planned with a "portable function".
I use Ifanview at the moment but am unable to start it from the portable apps menu so to speak.
I would be thankful for any information.

John Haller said a while back he made Cornice (Google it) portable. I'm sure he will release it eventually.
