I am a long term user of Portable Apps. Its solved lots of problems for me. Over years I have used it more and more.
The menu is nice but I'm finding it now a bit overloaded with apps. I want to split it into two separate independent systems. One for normal apps. One for zillions of small utilities.
My question: Can you reliably run two instances of the PA platform simultaneously? If so, how?

Don't know the answer to your question. However, give QuickCliq a try (I use it all the time in preference to PortableApps Platform). You can manage your zillions of small utilities via QuickCliq. If you do try it read the Documentation that is available - QuickCliq is a very powerful little program but to get at and understand some of the features you really need to read the documentation.
Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.
