I'm running Firefox Portable Developer's Edition v67.0b19.
I uninstalled an app which normally inserts an extension into all browsers on the system, including Firefox. Normally, uninstalling this app causes those added extensions to be uninstalled, and all is well.
However, this time (first I've done it with FFP v67), it seems to have corrupted almost every extension in Firefox Portable. Most of them have blank placeholder buttons in the toolbar (instead of the extension icon). And either all of the non-functioning extensions no longer have an "Options" button in the Extensions Manager, or if I try to bring up their options, there's an error:
-------------------------------------------------------
Access to the file was denied
The file at moz-extension:///options.html is not readable.
It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access.
-------------------------------------------------------
If I run a backup of Firefox Portable, all the extensions work fine UNTIL I shut it down and start FFP a second time. At that point, they're all corrupt again.
What's going on?!? And how do I fix this?
This would likely be a problem with the app you're referencing, not something on our end. What's the app?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Internet Download Manager.
I discovered that uninstalling and reinstalling any of the corrupted extensions gets them working again. I was just very surprised that the uninstallation of a system Firefox extension could affect all of the other extensions in a *portable* installation of Firefox.
