read messages become unread

Thunderbird Portable's habit of reverting read messages to unread is a real pain.

I've so far noticed this when
1) TP is run on a new machine
see https://portableapps.com/node/3405
2) Message Search is run on a folder
3) Other times... apparently randomly, just some of the older messages in a folder (which hasn't been visited recently... perhaps since the last upgrade?) are newly marked unread.

This behavior has been present for at least 1.5 years (since I started using TBP... not exactly sure what version, but I keep uptodate... right now TBP 1.5.0.1)

Is there no way to stop this, or at least change ALL messages in the Local Folders tree to read?

read messages become unread - again

As I asked in the comment referred to above - are we the ONLY people having this problem? For some obscure reasons it seems so, but the same thing seems to happen more or less every time I copy my PTB from my PC (yes, I use PTB as my regular mail program - never been a great fan of Outlook) and use it from a USB stick (Corsair), some or all messages in e.g. my Inbox become marked as "unread". The starnge thing is that this never happens when I copy my PTB to a portable USB hard drive (actually an old Toshiba drive scavenged from a portable PC that broke down) and copy PTB back when I get back to my PC.
And BTW, it's the "more or less every time" that really bugs me...
Any comments - anyone?

No longer have the problem...

I converted from Eudora to TB last week and I had the same thing, but not more (I think)

When I was using TB1.5 on my PC and TB Portable 1.5 frmo a USB flash drive, I was frustrated because 600+ folders of email I brought over from Eudora which I marked as Read would suddenly after a sync (using Migo) become unread.

I just upgraded to 2.0 on my desktop PC and the First PreRelease of Portable and the problem has stopped....

I went through on my PC and marked all of the mailboxes as Read and after several syncs to the USB and back, it seems to be fine. At least for now. Of course, that was just working off my PC at home and syncing to and then running from the USB drive. Today I am at work using the USB drive, so when I go home and sync back, I hope to see that everything in my archive folders continues to be marked as Read!

Then I can upgrade to prerelease 2.
