I'm finally on holidays! Thank John for that.
Anyway, I'd like to know, what apps would you like to see the most? (i.e. more games, more office tools, etc. No specific apps please)

I think if would be nice to have Birthday Reminder
Dunno about the license though.
Or you can read the book I mentioned in that other thread...;)

Even though I did say no specific apps
I doubt they'd have it in my local library
Oh and a sorta related quote:

Chef: And that's why we do it in the kitchen
Thank God You're Here
I don't s'pose any of you have seen that?

Not ftp, but hfs is a good tiny portable webserver.
Portable voice! I thought there were several. Perhaps you could let me know if i'm wrong. I've been having a look but not as IT knowledgeable as some.
- cute diddy PicoPhone neat and extra lightweight
- FoxFon/BirdFon (new yesterday) - needs checking out by someone knowledgeable on the group [one for FireFox and one for Thunderbird]
- Jajah
The latter two are Mozilla Addons released yesterday. I'd like to try these out if anyone needs a contact. Better than bloated skype i would have thought. But there are so many of these apps now - what i don't know is for pc-pc can one only communicate with the same software?

I am not certain why you posted an abandonware, linux, this site, and u3 website list. I would assume various types of freeware, though U3 isn't free and freespire is n't win32, so I am at a loss. All you have to do to add Torpark to PAM is simply extract the fracking folder to the programs folder in PAM and poof you have installed torpark. There is nothing that needs to be edited or modified. Lock stock and barrel and have a nice day.
Might I suggest play around with stuff anf figure things out instead of demanding stuff be handed to you. Especially since Torpark is not supposed to be on this site even though it is made by the same person who runs this site it is not supported on this site.

Most emulators are already portable to begin with. They generally are a single exe file and that is it. Sometimes it is the whole folder that you extract that you need to copy. Depends on the emu but they already are portable.

Been using the free version of Deepburner (regular application) to burn single/multi-session CDs, DVDs, & create/burn ISOs for quite a while. I've found that the portable Deepburner found on their (www.deepburner.com) download site to be just as useful. It integrates with the PAM quite well.
On another note:
I bought a new Sandisk cruzer micro that was one of the U3 drives, which I very quickly formatted and stuck PApps on, but not before I noticed that the U3 interface had an eject button similar to the PAM's X at the bottom-right. This, however, virtually disconnects the drive making it "safe to remove" just like Win 2k+ does. I think it'd be a most-helpful feature and probably wouldn't be that hard to do.
Let me know if I need to move this to a different forum...

Personally, I'd like to see more 'voice communication' software, especially voice over LAN. And I'm NOT talking about making Teamspeak and Ventrilo portable! Its against their licence.
Ventrilo's got the worst license I've seen.

Yeah, I don't use Ventilo. I find its interface really bad.
I found TeamTalk. Its just about completely portable (only thing you have to do is copy it after you install and uninstall again.) I also like how it intergrates the server with the client. Its not as feature rich as Teamspeak, but good enough.
I'm new to this portable apps stuff. So far, I really like it. How about a portable version of Cygwin (UNIX like environment for Windows). The difficult part would handling mount points. We would need to still be able to use Cygwin's setup.exe to add and remove Cygwin packages.
Thanks!
Steven

I'm after a portable personal proxy server (PPS). Not necessarily one that targets "anonymity" (eg uses web proxies).
I want something that acts as a proxy for all my portable apps that need to access the internet. I would start this PPS as soon as the USB key is plugged in. I would configure it with the current "real" (upstream) proxy details depending on where I am using the key (eg, I would enter no upstream proxy when I am using at home, I would enter my customer's proxy details if I am at a client site). These details could be saved as location "profiles". I would need to be able to store username / pwd details for each upstream proxy, as appropriate (support Basic, NTLM, Digest, etc).
Basically, it's something like Firefox's "Proxy Switcher", but as a stand-alone, portable app.
This way, I only need to setup all my portable internet-accessing apps with the details of PPS and as I move from location to location, I only need to change the PPS Profile and voila, all my other apps can still access the net...
I have tried making requests to several authors of existing close-but-not-quite-what-I'm-after solutions, but none have yet jumped on the chance (the closest I have got is with the author of bFilter, who just needs to add HTTP authentication for upstream proxies and the solution would be perfect! BFilter is open source, so maybe you only need to finish the job..).
Apologies for mentioning the app's name, but I use it for providing context and as an example of what I'm after...
I am willing to provide suggestions for the name of your solution too, should you choose to attempt it.
cheers,
Seems a bit hard, but I'll take a look.
When I said no specific apps, I meant no topics like "I want Inkscape portable, please"

Well, I've already made FreeProxy and BFilter portable, but need the authors to support upstream HTTP proxy authentication.
Like I said, BFilter (http://bfilter.sourceforge.net)is closest to the mark (although I don't really need the ad-filtering, ironically!). The author intimated that s/he may include NTLM authentication in next release, but he has gone dark (support forums are down http://kyeu.info/proxo/forums/showthread.php?action=newpost&tid=939 and I don't have an email address). But BFilter is open source, so if you're handy at proxy programming, you could just code the missing bits!
There goes that idea.
