It would be useful to have parallel downloads as with connections at home becoming even more faster, it seems a waste of time to download each file one after the other.

While it would be nice to have, parallel downloads would also require a lot more parallel bandwidth from our servers.
Given that someone would have to pay for that, it isn't likely to happen anytime soon, sorry.
There is one planned feature that will help bring down the time for the download and install process, which is to run the install process of one app while the next is downloading.
