grouop policy on private PC

Like many others, I suddenly got a notice on the Options page "Your browser is being managed by your organization" and when clicked it opens an Active policy "AppUpdateURL "http://127.0.0.1/" and "DisableAppUpdate true". Documentation link opens a long list of Policy Names

I did stop updates awhile ago, but did not notice the message above. I do not have anti-virus programs installed that seem to be the problem for others and rarely use free Malwarebites that is not active unless opened and it did not find anything. Still, I tried the instructions to remove the message, but my Policy folder does not have Mozilla in any subfolders. I did bridge a Comcast router with another router and am using Adguard.

Symptoms: FF is listed as a non-default browser and cannot be reverted back even though TB opens links in FF. Unchecking Enable Container Tabs does not work. Font size selection does not stick using zoom.
Using win7. Any idea what's going on?

You Set It

You set this up yourself by manually including group policy files within Firefox Portable to disable updates. Look in App\Firefox64\distribution and App\Firefox\distribution to remove the files.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

could you please be more specific?

Which files I have to remove and what would that do? Are they in FF portable or elsewhere? All I want is to remove the message so that I regain full control of the settings. I do not want to enable updates as they always screw up something...
