So, is there any chance of True Crypt getting "portabilized?" I figure it'd be useful to have with me.

This has been asked several times before

and since TC required administrator rights it probably won't be made portable

It would be interesting if the TrueCrypt developers could add a feature to the TC main window, or a separate .exe like TrueCrypt Format, that could browse in TC files like WinZip/WinRAR/7-zip does in archives.
I know that opening files in this way would probably involve using temporary storage and thus cause all kinds of issues, but if they could find a way round this it could become a bit more portable than its current admin-needing state...
At the very least, saving or copying files into the archive could perhaps be performed via a TC Browser app?
It's already out! It's on my drive, it is bundled with the Info Box package, which you can find here:

Just download and install TrueCrypt on your hard drive. Open the program and click on Tools then click on "Travelers Disk Setup" to install TrueCrypt on a memory stick/flash drive.

You still need admin rights to be able to open your encrypted drive. It has to install the truecrypt drive to let you decrpyt/encrypt and that can't be done w/o admin rights
