google talk just went open federation which means that you can talk to anyone on any chat service. Anyone know how to make a portable app for that? I know it is propritary, so I am asking how to do it,not for it. Thanks

1. Get rid of anything you dont need
2. Compress all DLLs & EXEs with UPX
3. Compress all zips, jars, etc to their max level
4. Run while watching with RegMon and FileMon
5. Submit your findings here

it only installs a single exe, googletalk.exe, in "Program Files\Google\Google Talk".

GTalk uses the Jabber messaging protocal. They have instructions on how to get connected via other clients, including Miranda which is portable.

You can use Gaim to connect to your Google Talk account. It has a Jabber plugin.

what? how exaclty do you connect to google talk from gaim.
i did add new account then put my screen name but it wouldnt log on. do i probably need to change the server but what to?
Here's the steps for setting up Google Talk through Gaim. It worked great for me.

theres a portable version of google talk for ceedo, just if you were wondering, i found it works great
Don't waste your money on Ceedo! Google is planning on adding Talk functionality to Gmail. Anywhere you can check your email you will be able to use it!
