Pidgin: Away message doesn't work (Auto-Reply)

First post here. Awesome site, awesome apps. Only one problem, so far.
I have been trying for quite some time, but I cannot get my away message to work. I have tried setting the auto-away to both "when away" and "when both away and idle". I have been using a saved status, title: "I'm not here", status: "away", message:"call if it's important... "
I just realized something. When I am setting the status, if I go to
"use different status for some accounts, I cannot type anything in the MSN box. Does Gaim not support MSN away messages? Just tried with a fellow AIM user, Nothing. What am I doing wrong?
