PotPlayer Pop-Up Logo Problem - where to download older versions?

With recent versions of PotPlayer, a square white pop-up with a yellow PotPlayer logo periodically happens when launching a file:

I have a firewall blocking all PotPlayer traffic so I suspect this is a placeholder for an ad.

Older versions of PotPlayer do not do this.

I confirmed that PotPlayerPortable_1.7.21289.paf.exe has this issue.

Can the older PortableApps PotPlayerPortable builds be downloaded so I can test them?

I checked https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/ but there is no PotPlayer entry with older versions.

TIA!

You'd need to inquire with the publisher regarding the ad/placeholder.

We only have older versions of open source apps on SourceForge. We don't make older versions of freeware/closed source apps available for download due to bandwidth costs.

The PotPlayer builds used for

The PotPlayer builds used for PortableApps are not published by DAUM.

For example, neither the current PotPlayerPortable_1.7.21289.paf.exe or PotPlayerPortable_1.7.21239.paf.exe builds (i.e. 1.7.21289 or 1.7.21239) are available from DAUM in non-PA form.

These builds seem to be supplied only to PortableApps since DAUM was bundling shareware with their normal builds and, thankfully, PA doesn't allow that.

Anyway, it seems that the past PortableApps builds are gone and will not be available.

Thank you for the explanation.

From DAUM

We do a standard install of the 32bit version from the publisher and portablize the files from that. Any bundleware in a publisher's installer is not included. Bundleware is not permitted in PA.c Format.

I'm really glad that PA does

I'm really glad that PA does not allow bundleware - thanks for that!

The PotPlayer builds used in the PortableApps versions are not publicly available.

For example, neither the PA builds 1.7.21289 or 1.7.21239 have been available from DAUM.

This is a list of the last major 3 PotPlayer release with the special, PortableApps builds also listed:

1.7.21291 200908 DAUM
1.7.21289 PotPlayerPortable paf

1.7.21233 200616 DAUM

Having an archive of these past special PortableApps builds would be helpful.

PS - I don't know why I was unable to post this as a single message.

Literally from DAUM

I built the current release myself. I downloaded what was on their site that day and packaged it: https://potplayer.daum.net/

Downloading the 32-bit installer right now for me shows the same version as our release. *89

Hello,

Hello,

can you redo portable potplayer version PotPlayerSetup64-1.7.18958, since there is no archive on https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/

This version was the last one before the popup ad. The old version can be found here https://www.videohelp.com/software/PotPlayer/old-versions

.

Interesting - the PotPlayer.dll (the main program) is 1.7.21295 from https://potplayer.daum.net/

While the PotPlayer.dll from the current PortableApps is 1.721293

Net net, they are different but I understand that PA is only going to provide a download for the current PA version.

I rolled back to the Daum release 1.7.18958 from 2019/06/10 and the white pop up square with the PotPlayer logo is gone.

Installer version

I downloaded the current version from that link and packaged it. The version on the installer itself is what we label our release. That version is currently 1.7.21289. Maybe the publisher is releasing multiple versions and rebuilding with that same version. I don't know honestly.

Version Issue

I looked into today and there are version issues with the app. The downloadable installer doesn't show the version in the file name (like PotPlayer 1.2.3 Setup.exe or similar). It has a version set within the EXE itself but it turns out that this version is just wrong. Also the EXE of the app itself is just 0.0.0.0, which is useless. Haven't seen this combo from a publisher before. So, I've released the new version and noted to pull the app version from the DLL for the future.

Potplayer logo

I have tried getting rid of the logo using settings but was unsuccessful. You can get older versions here:

A repackaged version of 1.7

A repackaged version of 1.7.18958 without the ads would be great!
